Are you thinking about traveling to Vietnam? You’re not the only one. Vietnam has been a popular destination for many years now, attracting people from all over the world who wants to experience the Eastern charm. From young backpackers to seniors, they’re all looking to discover this fascinating country – you can be one of them. Never has it been easier to attain a visa to Vietnam either. The country is now offering 46 countries the opportunity to apply for an E-visa, which allows you to be in the country for more than 15 days. It’s super easy to apply and inexpensive. There’s no reason for you to not come to Vietnam!
But other than that, why should one travel to Vietnam? What is it that makes this country such a popular travel destination? Well… There’s for sure more than one reason. Everyone travels for a different cause though, but this is what I think makes Vietnam such a great country to travel in.
Whether you are looking for a beach holiday or a ”cityscape” – Vietnam has it all. Up north you have Sapa, a mountainous area where you can visit the Hmong people and get to know their culture and way of living. The rice fields are some of the most beautiful ones in the world and you will surely fall in love with Northern Vietnam after seeing this part of the country. Don’t miss out on staying with the locals in their home and try their home cooked meals. This way you support the community and you get an experience that you will not get anywhere else.
If you are not so much into nature, you can always go to the cities of Vietnam. Choose from Hanoi, the capital city, to Ho Chi Minh City, which offers just as much city life as Hanoi. There is also the underrated city of Da Nang, which is worth a visit if you want to see the calmer city life of Vietnam. If you want to be in an even calmer city – visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site city Hoi An. Wander around and surround yourself with lanterns, do as many others and get something tailor-made, be mesmerised by the beauty of the city and don’t forget to eat the Vietnamese version of a crepe called ”Banh Xeo”.
Maybe you are more into the beach though, and want to lay in the sun and get that glowing tan. Just head to one of many beaches in Vietnam, such as Nha Trang, Cat Ba Island, the island Phu Quoc, or visit the charming small city Hoi An and bike to the beach. There is also the famous Halong Bay, where you can take a boat tour and cruise along the islands and jump into the ocean when it gets too hot.
For the people who are looking for adventure, head over to Da Lat and see the marvellous waterfalls. Da Lat is slowly becoming more and more popular amongst travellers who have discovered the beauty of this place. If you love hiking, then I highly recommend going up north to Ha Giang, where there’s several trails that run along the mountains. Even if you don’t like hiking, it is a magical place to visit to see the wonders of our nature.Does this make you want to pack your bags and go to Vietnam? No? Then let me continue…
The food is another reason why you should go to Vietnam. Experience the healthy, local cuisine that is taking the world by storm. Food is a very important factor for me when I travel and I want to be able to indulge as well. In Vietnam I definitely could. Not only is the food delicious, but the prices are so affordable that you won’t be able to resist ordering more.
It is also one of the easiest countries to travel in. Although many of the locals do not speak English, they will help you as much as they can. Transportation is easy to book and to get from point A to B is never a struggle. Traveling in Vietnam always felt like a proper vacation for me, because things went smoothly, I didn’t feel like I had to worry about money and I never felt unsafe. There are many other travellers and expats to connect with in the country as well and you will make friends quicker than you can say ”pho”.
Vietnam is a very diverse country that is packed with sights and beautiful nature. Instead of reading about it, come see it. It is truly a spectacular place that will offer you a unique experience you will never forget.
