Are you from a cold and grey country, looking to escape work and relax on the beach? Come to Vietnam! Not only is the climate always nice and warm, we always have some of the best beaches in the world. Vietnam is a very diverse country with a beach-filled coastline. Whether you are looking for that family-friendly beach or the more private, secluded and romantic one – we got you covered.
Before you enter Vietnam, make sure that you apply for an E-visa or a visa on arrival, if you intend to stay for longer than 15 days. Vietnam has now made it possible for citizens of up to 46 countries to apply for a so called E-Visa, which allows you to be in the country for 30 days. It is both inexpensive and super easy to apply to. Once you’ve figured out your visa status, you’re good to go.
Here are the beaches that I would recommend people to visit at least once:
1. Ha Long Bay
First of all; Halong Bay itself isn’t a beach – it’s the very many islands that has catched the eyes of tourists (and locals!). But there are also many beautiful beaches where you can go swimming and relaxing at. Not only will you get an unforgettable trip in one of Northern Vietnam’s gems, you will also explore the many beaches in the area.
2. Cat Ba Island
Go to ‘Monkey Island’, which is a small island located 2 km from Cat Ba town. To get here, you need to take a boat. But it is worth the little hassle, because the beach itself is unspoilt and beautiful – the two factors that makes a beach worth going to.
However, if you want something a bit more easily accessible, head to one of the three Cat Ba beach coves. The beaches there are truly some of the most spectacular in Vietnam.
3. Cua Dai Beach in Hoi An
If you are in Hoi An and can’t wait to go to the beach – head to Cua Dai Beach. The beach offers clean, white sands where you can go for a swim. Why not combine a visit here to the beautiful town Hoi An, and watch the lanterns light up at night.
4. Cam An Beach in Hoi An
Although many people visit the ancient town of Hoi An to wander around and be mesmerized by all the lanterns, the city also boasts many beautiful beaches. Cam An beach is one of them.
5. My Khe Beach in Da Nang
This beach is considered one of Vietnam’s most picturesque beaches, and it’s not hard to see. 20-mile stretch of white, sandy beach, where you can also surf or simply relax on the beach. Stay here for a spectacular sunset with a cold beer in your hand.
6. Con Dao Islands
This is an archipelago consisting of 15 islands in the southeastern coast of Vietnam. The island has a total stretch of 125 mile-long coastline with numerous beautiful beaches, offering crystal blue waters. The island is still quite unspoilt thanks to the lack of proper transportation facilities to and from the islands. It is a must-visit if you love beaches that feels unspoilt and more private.
7. Ho Coc Beach, Vung Tau city
If you love the beach, but are also looking for activities such as hitting the hot spring or seeing the beautiful rainforest – Ho Coc is the place for you. It does get a bit busy during weekends when both locals and internationals flock the beaches, but this should not stop you from visiting this beach. Come here for the crystal clear waters and golden sands.
8. Phu Quoc Island
This island is starting to gain more and more popularity with both tourists and locals. Not too far away from Ho Chi Minh City lies the beautiful Phu Quoc Island, with its mesmerising white beaches which offers some peace and quiet, in comparison to the bustling city of Ho Chi Minh. Phu Quoc is the largest island in Vietnam and has a long list of beaches scattered around. The most famous beach in Phu Quoc island is called ‘Long Beach’. Go paddle-boarding, snorkeling, kayaking, jetskiing or why not just take some photos for your instagram account – this beach is a hit with most people.
If you are looking for a little more private beach, go to ‘Star Beach’, which is also known for its white, powdery sand and crystal clear waters. This is one of the most beautiful beaches in Vietnam. At night, the beach lights up with luminous planktons. It is a sight that you will not soon forget.
These are just a list of the beaches that I particularly enjoyed, but there’s an abundance of beaches in Vietnam. Come here to find your favorite beach!
