Since January 2017, citizens from 40 countries (including USA) are eligible to apply for an E-Visa, which will allow you to stay in the country for 30 days, single entry. This applies for citizens of the United States of America.

Visa on Arrival – Apply online for pre-approval then pick up your visa on arrival at the airport of Vietnam
However, many people feel like they want to stay for a longer period of time. We get it – we advise you to stay longer as well. Luckily, you can instead apply for a Visa on Arrival, which will allow you to stay for either 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and finally up to 12 months, giving you enough time to explore the country thoroughly.
When you apply for a “Visa on Arrival”, you need to have a visa approval letter from the Immigration Department of Vietnam, which will then allow you to pick up your visa on arrival at the International Airport of Vietnam. Apply online through our website or contact your travel agent in Vietnam and request a visa approval letter. When you arrive to the airport, you will be required to show the approval letter, and then you will get the visa stamped on your passport. Sounds quite easy, right?
However, if you live in the cities that have an embassy or consulate of Vietnam, there are other options. You can also get a visa by either applying for a visa at the consulate or embassy of Vietnam in the United States of America (USA). If you are not sure where exactly you can apply, contact your embassy.
We are happy that you have chosen to visit Vietnam. No matter the amount of time, we truly recommend you to see both the north and the south. Are you looking for mountains? Beautiful sand beaches? Green rice terraces? Do you want to be immersed in a foreign culture? Then we believe you have come to the right country. Aside from the visa process being very easy and inexpensive, as soon as you entered the country, you’ll thank yourself for staying in the country for a longer time. The country is quite big and sometimes public transportation is slow. Although it usually works smoothly, the distances are long.
You will also see, once you’re on the road traveling, how diverse the country is and how much there is to do. There are a ton of activities as well; Are you a fan of hiking? Surfing? Trekking? There’s something here for everyone. No wonder it has become such a popular destination! Competing with neighboring Thailand, Laos and Cambodia – Vietnam is holding it on its own. We are always happy to welcome new tourists to the country, or people who fell in love and decided to come back.
So, what are you waiting for? Go apply for that visa and hop on that flight! It will be a trip that you will soon forget.
