Dreaming of a warm, exotic country with long stretches of sand beaches, good food, fascinating culture and an abundance of activities? Why not head over to Vietnam! One of the most popular destinations in Asia, this country has captured many people’s hearts. It’s not only very affordable, but it has plenty of charm as well. There is also so many beautiful sights to see throughout the country and a lot of travelers chooses to rent or buy a motorbike and drive cross country in order to see as much as possible.
But if that’s not something that appeals to you, don’t worry – there are a ton more transportation options. You can rent a car as well or go with public transportation, which is very convenient. Whatever you decide, make sure to put aside time in order to see the diversity of the country.
Before you go, you will need to apply for a Vietnam visa in order to enter the country. But it’s an easy process that’s usually fast and convenient. You have two alternatives to choose from.
I heard about Vietnam e-visa. Can I apply for Vietnam e-visa if I am citizens of Turkey? (No, Turkish citizens are not eligible for Vietnam e-visa)
From 01 Feb 2019, under Decision 17/2019/NĐ-CP of the Government of Vietnam, there are 80 countries which citizens of it are eligible to apply online for an e-visa of Vietnam online (e-visa is a single entry valid for staying 30 days). We check but not found Turkey national in this list, therefore, Turkish citizens should choose two options below to get a visa for Vietnam
1. Visa on Arrival – Apply online for pre-approval then pick up visa on arrival at the airport of Vietnam
This is a very popular choice if you want to apply for a Vietnam visa because of its convenience, quickness, safety and it is also inexpensive. It gives you multi-entries, so you can go to another country and come back to Vietnam. You can apply for this anywhere in the world. All you need to do is have a computer and access to the internet. With a Visa On Arrival, there is no need to send your passport or any other important private documents. What you need to do is fill out an Online Application Form, wait for your confirmation letter and you will normally receive an Approval Letter within 2 working days. When everything is done, don’t forget to print out the finalized document, bring it to the airport in Vietnam and get it stamped by one of the immigration officers.
Side note: On special occasions and certain holidays, citizens of Turkey are supported with a Visa on Arrival for staying maximum 15 days (hotel booking and return tickets are required) – We need 7 working days to get the visa approval letter from the Immigration Department of Vietnam. Therefore, we advise to directly contact the Vietnam Embassy to get a visa during those occasions.
2. Apply for a visa through the Vietnamese Consulate or Embassy in Turkey
The second option is applying for a visa at the Vietnamese Consulate or Vietnamese Embassy in Turkey. If you choose to go this way, you have to bring your passport and any relevant documents to the consulate or embassy. If you live far away from the Embassy or Consulate, it might be a bit inconvenient for you. Sometimes the progress of your application will take a longer time as well, especially if there are important documents that are missing.
Once you have your Vietnam visa, you are ready to start your adventure! Why not go to one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, relax in one of many beaches, go hiking in the mountains, see waterfalls in Da Lat, learn more about the Vietnamese history in the capital city Hanoi and visit the Cu Chi Tunnels in Ho Chi Minh City. There is something for everyone here and you will never feel bored. Don’t wait any longer – book your flight and prepare to fall in love with Vietnam!
