Vietnam – a foreign country with tropical climate that has been on the radar for a long time. Perhaps that is what comes on your mind when you think of Vietnam? Well, there is a lot more to discover here. Sure, the weather is normally warm (if you stick to the south in winter time), but what exactly is it that makes Vietnam an attractive country to go to? Why do so many people choose to spend their time and money in this country?
Well, there is more than one answer to that. Vietnam is a very diverse country that has a lot to offer, so it is always recommended to stay for at least one month if you wish to see a lot of the country. It’s not only easy to travel in, but it’s also very affordable. The country has managed to keep its prices low even though tourism has increased immensely in the past few years. This makes it a very attractive country to travel in for a longer period of time.
If you are looking for adventure, then you will have it around the corner. Go hiking or trekking in the mountains, go kitesurfing on the beach in Mui Ne, visit Halong Bay and cruise around on the boats amongst the many thousands of limestone rocks. If you prefer being in cities, there is Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City – two cities where it’s impossible to be bored. The cities are always full of life and you can find adventure lurking around the corner. There’s also good opportunities to café hop – if you like to take nice photos for your Instagram or you just enjoy a good cup of coffee.
The list can go on and on, but as you can see, you won’t be bored here. If you have decided that this is a place you would like to go, you will need to apply for a Vietnam visa first. There are two options for you to choose from if you are a citizen of Uganda.
I heard about Vietnam e-visa. Can I apply for Vietnam e-visa if I am citizens of Uganda? (No, Ugandan citizens are not eligible for Vietnam e-visa)
From 01 Feb 2019, under Decision 17/2019/NĐ-CP of the Government of Vietnam, there are 80 countries which citizens of it are eligible to apply online for an e-visa of Vietnam online (e-visa is a single entry valid for staying 30 days). We check but not found Uganda national in this list, therefore, citizens of Uganda should choose two options below to get a visa for Vietnam
1. Visa on Arrival – Apply online for pre-approval then pick up visa on arrival at the airport of Vietnam
The other option is to apply for a Visa on Arrival (VOA). This is another popular way of getting a Vietnam visa because of its convenience, quickness, safety and it is also inexpensive. It also gives you multi-entries, so you can go to another country and come back to Vietnam. You can apply for this anywhere in the world. All you need to do is have a computer and internet. With a VOA, there is no need to send your passport or any other important private documents. What you need to do is fill out an Online Application Form, wait for your confirmation letter and you will normally receive an Approval Letter within 2 working days. When everything is done, don’t forget to print out the finalized document, bring it to the airport in Vietnam and get it stamped by one of the immigration officers.
2. Apply for a visa at the Vietnamese Consulate or Embassy in the nearby countries of Uganda
The third option is applying for a visa at the Vietnamese Consulate or Vietnamese Embassy in Uganda. If you choose to go this way, you have to bring your passport and any relevant documents to the consulate or embassy. If you live far away from the Embassy or Consulate, it might be a bit inconvenient for you. Sometimes the progress of your application will take a longer time as well, especially if there are important documents that are missing.
As soon as your visa has been approved, you can enter the country and start your adventure. It will be a journey that you won’t soon forget!
