The harsh European winter is one of the many reasons why people travel abroad – why stay at home when you can enjoy your time in an exotic island, try new food, lay on a beach, enjoy the warm weather and get to know a new culture. If you are from Europe, I am sure that you have visited Southeast Asia or know someone that has been there. Some of the reasons why it has become such a popular tourist destination is because of how affordable and safe it is. It is also very easy to travel between the countries. One day you are in Thailand and the next day you are in Vietnam, and after that you find yourself in Cambodia.
Since it is so affordable, many people choose to stay here for a longer time so they can truly explore the countries and see as much as possible. So, depending on how long you want to stay, you need to apply for the correct visa so you don’t end up overstaying and having to pay fees (or worse!). If you are a citizen from Austria, you have three choices:
1. Electronic visa or Vietnam e-visa for Austrian passport holders
From 01 Feb 2019, under Decision 17/2019/NĐ-CP of the Government of Vietnam, citizens of Austria are eligible to apply online for an e-visa of Vietnam online (e-visa is a single entry valid for staying 30 days).
Austrian passport holders, who want to visit Vietnam for less than 30 days for a single trip, can apply online for an e-visa directly at the government website https://evisa.immigration.gov.vn(please note that the fee is non-refundable if you apply your e-visa at the government website).
If you want to secure your e-visa with refundable policy (100% satisfied or get back your money) you can apply your e-visa through our easy form application (filling your entry date, entry and exit port of arrival then submit your passport copy online) then we will take care the rest of procedure to get your e-visa on time as promise.
Note : if you want to visit Vietnam for multiple times in one month or want to visit Vietnam for more than one month, please choose options below :
2. Visa on Arrival – Apply online for pre-approval then pick up your visa on arrival at the airport of Vietnam
The visa on arrival option is preferred by many foreigners who comes to Vietnam. It is easy to apply to, convenient, fast and it saves you time. You can also apply for the VOA from anywhere in the world – whether you live in Austria or you are on vacation in Italy, you just need your computer and internet. If you acquire this visa, you are allowed to enter Vietnam through any of the 5 international airports: Da Nang Int’l Airport in Da Nang city, Cam Ranh Int’l Airport in Nha Trang city (Khanh Hoa province), Tan Son Nhat Int’l Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, Noi Bai Int’l Airport in Hanoi city and Cat Bi Int’l Airport in Hai Phong city. You can only travel by air if you get a VOA, meaning you can’t enter Vietnam by bus, car, et cetera.
The process itself is easy. You only need to fill out the Online Application form where you state your date of birth, et cetera. Then you wait for a confirmation letter that will come in around 1-2 working hours. Normally you will receive an Approval Letter within 2 working days. When the letter comes, don’t forget to print it out so the immigration officers in Vietnam can stamp your passport. If by chance you need to get an emergency visa, it will cost you more money, but you will be able to get it faster. It will take from 30 minutes to 4 hours.
3. Apply for a visa through the embassy of Vietnam in Austria
The reason why this option isn’t recommended is because it’s not as convenient if you don’t live close to the embassy of Vietnam in Austria. It means you will have to spend time on transportation and money. You will also need to remember to bring all the necessary documents, such as passport, and if you by any chance forget anything, you need to start all over again with the process. It is time consuming and you will usually need to pick up your passport in the embassy. However, this is one of the choices that you can choose from, so if you happen to prefer this option, then it is good to know that it exists.
Vietnam is truly a unique country that stands out on its own. No wonder so many people choose to travel here! Come see it for yourself and find out what everyone’s been raving about!
