If you are an Australian citizen, you are required to apply for a visa. But don’t fret – it is getting a lot easier to apply for a visa these days and you can do it all from home. You just need your computer, passport number, bank account details, and that is basically it. Traveling to Vietnam has never been easier and more affordable!
A lot of Australians have found their way to the beautiful country of Vietnam, and it’s not hard to see why so many people choose to come here – there is much to see, much to do, and most importantly; much to eat. It’s difficult to not be charmed by this country.
But the only thing that needs to be taken care of before you go to Vietnam is obtaining a visa. There are three options for you to choose from, and it all depends on how long you want to stay in the country for. We would personally recommend at least 30 days in Vietnam, but even this amount of time will limit you a bit. The country is big and public transportation can be a bit tricky at times – it can take a long time for you to get from point A to point B.
So, you’re probably wondering what kind of visas you can get and how to get them? Let’s get started.
1. Electronic visa or Vietnam e-visa for Australian passport holders
If you only wish to be in the country for 30 days or less, you can apply for an E-Visa. It is a very easy process and everything is done online. Important to note is that with this visa, you will only get a single entry. Here are the simple steps for you to follow in order to obtain your E-Visa:
1. Apply Online
Just complete the form (which only takes a few minutes to complete) and pay online with either PayPal or your credit card.
2. Download the E-Visa
When everything is filled out and you have paid, we will send you the e-visa via e-mail. Don’t forget to download and print a copy of it for your entry to Vietnam.
3. Entry Into Vietnam
Welcome to Vietnam! Just present your e-visa at the check in point and you are ready to travel!
2. Visa on Arrival – Apply online for pre-approval then pick up your visa on arrival at the airport of Vietnam
If you wish to stay for longer than 30 days, you can apply for a Visa on Arrival. You can choose to stay between 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and even up to 12 months. This will enable you a bit more freedom and time to do what you want in the country. These are the simple steps to follow in order to obtain a Visa on Arrival:
1. Apply Online
Fill out the form and pay with Paypal or with your credit card
2. Get Visa Approval
You will get your visa approval via email. Download and print a copy of it in order to pick up your visa at your destination airport.
3. Pick up your Visa
At the landing visa desk, present your visa approval letter. Pay the stamp fee and get your visa stamped on your passport.
4. Checking in Vietnam
After your passport has been stamped, present it at the check-in desk and you are good to enter Vietnam.
The third option is to get a Visa through the embassy of Vietnam. You can either apply there or through the consulate of Vietnam in Australia. If you are not sure where exactly you can apply, please contact your embassy.
It really is that simple! We hope that you will enjoy your stay in the country and that you found this blog post helpful. Good luck and have fun!
