More and more tourists are finding their way to Vietnam and the popularity of the country doesn’t seem to stop anytime soon. Foreigners from everywhere in the world are being charmed by this Southeastern country, and recently there has been a huge crowd from India that has found their way here. In fact, Vietnam is one of the most popular destinations for Indians.
One of the advantages that Vietnam has in tourism are the long and beautiful coastlines with sand beaches, UNESCO heritage sites, delicious cuisine, high-class system of resorts, golf courses and luxury hotels. Of course, for the people who travels in a budget, there are also many good hostels to choose from – some of them even feels like a resort!
The number of Indian visitors to Vietnam grew impressively from 2010 – 2016 and increased with an average of 17% per year. Compared to many other Asian countries, Vietnam is one of the more affordable destinations to travel in and relatively safe, which makes this the perfect choice for many travelers.
But before you fly to Vietnam, as citizens of India, you are required to have a visa before entering the country. However, since there are so many Indian tourists, there shouldn’t be a problem applying for a visa. It’s important to note that from 2015, Indian nationality is categorized in a so called “difficult nationality group”, meaning there is usually a higher visa approval letter fee, return flight tickets requirements and you need to provide a passport copy. Still, the fees are not really high. If you wish to stay in Vietnam under 1 month (single and multiple basis are the same), the visa costs around 35 USD. For 3 months, single entry, it is around 45 USD, while if you wish a 3 month multiple entry, it will cost you around 65 USD.
Please note: Now the visa fee for Indian citizens much cheaper, see our visa pricing for best price guarantee.

2. Visa on Arrival – Apply online for pre-approval then pick up your visa on arrival at the airport of Vietnam
If you want to stay for more than 30 days or want a multiple-entry visa, there are two options for you: either you purchase a visa from the Vietnamese embassy or you arrange to get a Visa on Arrival by buying a visa approval letter online. If you choose the last option, you must travel to Vietnam by air.
The Visa on Arrival (VOA) is the easiest way and you can apply for this from anywhere in the world. All you need is your computer and internet. This is the most effective way to apply for a visa if you are going to Vietnam. What you need to do is fill out an Online Application Form, wait for your confirmation letter and you will normally receive an Approval Letter within 2 working days. When everything is done, don’t forget to print out the finalized document, bring it to the airport in Vietnam and get it stamped by one of the immigration officers.
3. Apply for a visa through the Vietnamese Embassy in India
The last option you have is to go to the Vietnamese Embassy in India. From there you will be instructed step by step on how to apply for a visa. This option is a bit more inconvenient for the person who lives far away from the embassy and needs the visa more quickly. The visa process can take a bit of a longer time than the Visa on Arrival, therefore we recommend that if you can apply for a VOA, this is the quickest and more convenient option.
